Sony Launching “Forgery-Proof” Digital Signing

Sharing is caring!

Sony has announced they will be introducing a new camera feature that will make digital images “immune to secret manipulation and forgery.”

The feature is called in-camera signing mode and it cryptographically signs every image an equipped camera capture.

With this feature, any pixel modification or tampering with the image after it has been captured will result in an image that no longer matches the initial digital signature.

If you’re thinking, “what use does this have?” well this feature is intended for corporate users such as those in passport of ID photo verification.

Image manipulation in these fields along with media, law enforcement, and medical is important to catch to prevent fraud.

This feature is currently only available on the Sony Alpha 7 IV and Sony stated they plan on expanding this feature to other models in the future.
