Capturing your next portrait using the beauty of natural light.
“I called up Nate for a photoshoot and he was a complete professional and very courteous. We went over what I was looking for and what type of outfits ill be wearing. His photography skills are top notch and he is real easy to work with. I would defiantly do another photoshoot some time in the future. Highly recommended!”

Natural Light Portrait Photography
I am specialized in natural light portrait photography. Shooting in nature has become my favorite type of portrait photography and is a favorite among clients as well. Combining nature and subject can create beautiful images that feel very “natural.”
Unlike studio portrait photography where there are set up lights in place — you have to work with natural light and the atmosphere of the day. This can produce very beautiful images that can evoke intense emotion and mood within the photograph based on the time of day the photoshoot takes place.
You can choose for an upbeat, happy image or a more moody, contemplative image. The choice is yours and we can discuss which is best during the pre-shoot consultation.
“Working with Nate has been and is always an absolute pleasure! Professional, very talented and has an amazing vision. Always makes sure a client is happy and has very quick turnaround with editing. Highly recommend!”

Lighting And Time Of Day
Nature Photography Lighting
The lighting and time of day plays a big factor in nature portrait photography/natural light photography.
Since the photos are being taken outside, we have to rely on the weather on a given day. Ideally, it is best to shoot on a day with “overcast” as this type of weather creates a natural soft-box look and avoids any harsh shadows on your face.
Other great times to shoot are during sunrise and sunset when the light is diffused, creating beautiful images. The worst time of day to shoot is mid-day when the sun is directly overhead as this can create harsh shadows on your face.
The time of day we decide to shoot can make or break the mood of the image and we can discuss the perfect time of day to shoot to capture the type of images you seek during our pre-shoot consultation.Unlike studio portrait photography where there are set up lights in place — you have to work with natural light and the atmosphere of the day.

“Nate is a class act. I did a lifestyle photoshoot with Nate and was extremely pleased with how the photos came out. He was very flexible and knowledgeable during the shoot. I personally rely on a few specific poses for my shoots, so I was particularly impressed at the numerous additional poses he knew would read well on camera. Highly recommend!“

Having a clear purpose with the photoshoot is very important and I make it a point to understand your vision while providing professional insight so I can capture your best portraits.
The pictures have to tell a story. Having a story behind images makes the viewers of the images more interested in the story. Some important factors that help tell the story other than lighting are also what clothes you choose to wear and the posing within the image. We can determine the best type of clothing during the pre-shoot consultation.
“Super happy with Nate’s high quality photos! He has very creative concepts, is a pleasure to shoot with, and I highly recommend to anyone.”

Nature Photography Posing
One of the key elements of a successful photo shoot with people is creating the mood. It is my job to act as the emotional balancer during the shoot. It is understandable to get tense when your face is in front of the camera, however, it will also show in the photograph.
It is my job to make you comfortable and at ease. I like to think of all my clients as friends and while still offering a professional service, I want to be viewed as more than a person holding a camera. During the pre-shoot consultation, I make it a point to understand your vision and interests to ensure we have a relaxed photo shoot that produces great natural light portraits.
