Capturing your character and true personality in a natural setting.
“I called up Nate for a photoshoot and he was a complete professional and very courteous. We went over what I was looking for and what type of outfits ill be wearing. His photography skills are top notch and he is real easy to work with. I would defiantly do another photoshoot some time in the future. Highly recommended!”

Capture the Essence
Environmental Portrait Photography
Environmental portrait photography is best executed when we are in your usual environment such as an art studio, a kitchen, your workplace, or even your home. The goal with all my environmental portrait is to illuminate you, your life, and your surroundings.
I strive to capture the essence of your personality. I succeed through posing techniques to make you feel comfortable and at ease. It can be awkward getting your photo taken sometimes, I get it. That is why I like to have genuine conversations with my clients to understand them, their vision, and to make you feel more comfortable which results in great environmental portraits.
I am different than other environmental portrait photographers because I am not just a camera, I strive to be someone you know and are comfortable with who is using a camera.
“Working with Nate has been and is always an absolute pleasure! Professional, very talented and has an amazing vision. Always makes sure a client is happy and has very quick turnaround with editing. Highly recommend!”

Environmental Portrait Posing
Unless you are a professional model or are already very comfortable in front of a camera, most people tend to stiffen up if front of a camera. This is not great for the environmental portrait and it does not allow your true personality to shine through. It helps that we will be in your natural environment. This setting should naturally result in a more relaxed body language and facial expression, however, posing also plays a big factor.
The pose you choose should be natural and convey your personality based on the environment you choose. For those who do not know how to pose or get uncomfortable in front of the camera, that is where I help out.
By asking you questions about your environment and uncovering how you interact with your environment on a regular basis, we can capture the best environmental portraits and it will not feel “staged” or “posed.” It will be all natural which often produces the best environmental portraits.
“Nate is a class act. I did a lifestyle photoshoot with Nate and was extremely pleased with how the photos came out. He was very flexible and knowledgeable during the shoot. I personally rely on a few specific poses for my shoots, so I was particularly impressed at the numerous additional poses he knew would read well on camera. Highly recommend!“

Tell A Story
Environmental Portrait Locations
The beauty about environmental portraits is that the location can take on many forms. Great environmental portraits are able to tell a story about their subject. The location that is chosen is supposed to give insight into who you are as a person and what you like to do.
Popular locations for environmental portraits include your home, place of work, where you play sports, or anywhere else that is meaningful for you. The location is an extension of you and your characters and will help give the viewer insight into your background and story.
Environmental portraits put you in context with your surroundings. I ensure to include the best visual elements around you to help tell the story of who you are.
“Super happy with Nate’s high quality photos! He has very creative concepts, is a pleasure to shoot with, and I highly recommend to anyone.”

Importance Of Environmental Portraits
Many people ask what is the difference between a standard portrait and an environment portrait? Well, it’s the same as a standard portrait, except in an environmental portrait we would want to go to the place where you spend most of your time. These portraits are essential if you need professional photos of you “in action.”
For example, if you are an artist, we would photograph you in your studio and I would photograph you while you create your art. If you are a chef, I would photograph you in your kitchen while you cook, etc.
